Niko Jekkonen appointed as Student Member of the Savonia Board

Engineering student Niko Jekkonen has been selected for the board of Savonia University of Applied Sciences Ltd. The appointment was confirmed at the Savonia Ltd’s general meeting held on April 25, 2024.

The selection of the student representative is in accordance with the University of Applied Sciences Act, managed by the student union. The selection process is organized by the central electoral board of the student union, and the decision on the proposed student member is made by the student representative council of Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

The student representative council decided on the selection of the student member at its meeting on April 23, 2024. The selection was made through an election. Based on the election results, the council decided to appoint a student member for the period between the regular general meetings of 2024 and 2025. Jekkonen also served as a student member of Savonia’s board during the 2023-2024 term. The student member is appointed annually.

All students present at Savonia University of Applied Sciences were eligible to apply for the position of board member. The application period was from March 27 to April 9, 2024. The central electoral board of the student union received five eligible applications for the position.
